Officers giving interview for the mediaToday there was a beautiful Air Show by Sarang, IAF for the public at Marine Drive, Ernakulam.

The first public display of the Sarang Team was during the Asian Aerospace at Singapore in 2004.

History
In 1972, IAF, the fourth largest Air Force the world over, laid down the requirement for design and development of a new helicopter as a part of its modernisation drive. The responsibility of the project was given to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. The first prototype helicopter flew in 1992, and was named the Advanced Light Helicopter ALH. The Sarang Helicopter Display Team has its genesis in the ALH Evaluation Flight, which was formed on 18 Mar 2002 to carry out the user trials and accept the production helicopters into IAF. In Apr 2005 the team was moved to Air Force Staion Yelahanka, a premier IAF training base near Banglore, and accorded the status of a full fledged unit as 151 Helicopter Unit.

The Sarang displays are planned and controlled by the IAF Air Headquarters. However, anyone can request a display by the Sarang in their country by writing well in advance of the event. If you like to request a display by Sarang, please contact with full details in writing to
