Infopark Cochin was granted approval for special economic zone (SEZ) for 36 acres of the total 160 acres of land as the second phase of infopark in Kochi. The decision was taken by the board of approvals and ministry of commerce in a meeting held at NewDelhi.
Around 2 lakh sq.ft of additional space will be added to the existing buildings which will invite more multinational companies to the city. Many MNC ‘s and national companies have shown interest to start firms in the new area. A three year time span is given to complete the buildings. After that the companies will be starting firm in the area and job opportunities for IT and non IT professionals will be in a boom. Gyms cinema, halls, health spa will be part of the new buildings.
The decision is such a boon to the growth of the infopark .SEZ status has already been given to 78 acres as a part of the first phase of Infopark, which could offer around 10,500 employments so far.
