District tourism development council is organising Onam celebrations, Lavanyam, Which will start off on Monday. The Event will be a platform for tourism clubs of school and colleges to showcase their artistic skills.
The Onam celebration was inaugurated by District collector in a function held at children’s park on staurday. The programmes will be held at the Durbar Hall Ground, the Marine Drive and the Children’s Park from Monday to Thursday. There will be a ganamela led by playback singers Biju Narayanan and Jyotsna at the Durbar Hall on Thiruvonam day. At the venue at the Marine Drive, there will be a Bharatanataym performance by Seema Sasidharan and ganamela led by Kalabhavan Soby.
At the Durbar Hall, there will be a Kolkkali presentation, which will be followed by a dance performance by Lakshmy Gopalaswamy. At the Marine Drive, there will be ‘Old Is Gold’, ganamela led by K P Udayabhanu. At the Children’s Park, there will be a Games Show named Kalikkoottam.
On 25, a Mohiniyattom performance by Jayaprabha Menon, and a Gazal Sandhya by Umbai will be held at the Durbar Hall Ground. At the Marine Drive, there will be rendering of folk songs, Dafmuttu, black and white show, and a Kathakali performance. At the Children’s Park, Navodaya Kochi will perform a megadance.
On the concluding day, the events will be marked by a Kalarippayattu performance, music night and a ganamela. There will be fireworks as a part of valedictory function.
