Potholes and water-logging have turned the roads of Kochi into nightmares for the motorists. The High Court had issued the order to repair the damaged roads as soon as possible. But in real, the maintenance work is still going in slow pace. Its been two weeks now, since the Kerala High Court has directed the Union and State governments, the PWD, Greater Cochin Development Authority and the Kochi Corporation to urgently repair the roads under their jurisdiction within a period of four weeks. The authorities of the National Highways, PWD, Kochi Corporation and the GCDA were asked to complete the maintenance and repair work by August 15.
The maintenance had already started and done on some roads but due to rain, the work was disrupted in many areas. The committee constituted by the High Court will assess the final output on August 14 and 15. Based on this inspection, the final report will be submitted to the High Court. Lets hope we’ll get to see some clean roads without any potholes by August 15.
